null Winter School (February 17-19, 2021): registration open

Registration for the Winter School of the Finnish Doctoral Network for Music Research (February 17–19, 2021) is now open online: https://www.lyyti.in/Talvikoulu_2021__rekisteroityminen_8551/en (password: 21syyskoulu). This time, the event will take place online via Zoom. We kindly ask everyone interested to register by February 2. Participants presenting their work at the Winter School should also send 1) their texts and 2) up-to-date table of contents files for their doctoral projects  as attachments files via the registration link. Please note that you can edit your registration form even after sending it (until February 2).

All necessary information (including Zoom links) has been gathered on a separate Moodle page, as usual. You can find the Moodle link and password in the confirmation e-mail that you get once registered. We kindly ask all participants to familiarise themselves well in advance with the documents (winter school info, technical information, writers’ instructions and guidelines for opponents) uploaded on Moodle. The Moodle materials will be updated and complemented until the beginning of February, and schedule changes are possible.

Professor Juniper Hill (Universität Würzburg) and research funding expert Tiia Saarinen (Uniarts Helsinki) have kindly agreed to give keynote lectures at the Winter School. Professor Hill will be talking about ethnography as a research method based on her project on creativity (in English), whereas Tiia Saarinen will give us a talk on how to write a compelling funding application (in Finnish).

This spring, the network will arrange three rehearsal defenses (“nippupäivä”) around the Winter School dates, featuring the doctoral projects of MA Janne Palkisto (University of Helsinki, February 22, 2021, 10 am to 4 pm, in Finnish), MA Sanna Qvick (University of Turku, February 24, 2021, 2 to 6 pm, in English) and MA Kristian Wahlström (University of Helsinki, date and time TBA). All interested network members are welcome to attend and follow these rehearsal defenses. More information is available on the Moodle page of the Winter School. More information on registration details, on the featured doctoral projects and other practicalities will follow in a separate e-mail by the end of January.

Should you have any questions about the Winter School or other events organised by the network, please do not hesitate to contact the coordinator (nuppu.koivisto@uniarts.fi, tel. 0504779213).
